Environmental Education – the step towards Cooperation

Round Table Meeting “Environmental  Education –the step towards cooperation ” took place in Dushanbe on 19 November 2015. The goal of the roundtable meeting was to discuss the national complex program of  environmental education for the population of Takjikistan, and the ways of  improving cooperation between state institutions and non governmental sector in the field of education for sustainable development.           

The roundtable meeting was jointly organized by “Little Earth” environmental organization and the State Environmental Committee. Representatives of:  the state environmental committee, pedagogues from colleges and institutes, school teachers,  the republic center of  informal education,  advanced training center for teachers,  international and local organizations  and  volunteers  from Little Earth,  in total 30 person participated in the meeting.

Participants presented  the following presentations: G. A Tilloeva  form the Center of Environmental  Information  - “Short summary of the complex program of environmental education in Tajikistan for the Y2020”; J. B. Skochilov from Youth Environmental Center  - “The way from the environmental education to sustainable development , the overview of directions”;  B. Abdurakhimov from  the Education Standard Center – “Challenges and perspectives of environmental education in colleagues and institutes”; M. Shukurova from Little Earth and C. Nazarmamadova, a teacher from N94 School – “Short overview of  school textbooks on environmental education”. 

Based on the discussed challenges existing in the field of environmental education the specific proposals were submitted to improve the situation. The proposed  improvement implies the creation of working group consisting of not only representatives  of the  line state institutions but also members of civil society organizations and pedagogues from various colleges and institutes. Participants of the round table  meeting agreed on intensive information sharing  including new programs, various initiatives, contests on the environment and education. Representatives of the state environmental committee promised to review a possibility to open a folder on the Committee website reflecting the materials and the follow-up of the roundtable meeting and also to cooperate and support  in  publishing  various environmental information, publications and news in the newspaper  “Man and Environment ”.
